The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department in Charles
County, Maryland has taken delivery of a new
command unit from DPC Emergency Equipment.
The new vehicle is designated as "Command 3".
Between the front seats is a custom-fabricated,
aluminum center console that was
sprayed with black LINE-X. Housed in the
console is a Powercall Adam-6 electronic siren, Traffic
Advisor controls, Bearcat scanner, TST
Touch Tek 10 switch panel, Motorola Astro mobile
radio, a pair of cup holders, and two (2)
12-volt outlets to power accessories.
There is also a switch to activate the Whelen
Howler siren and a control head for the Sho-Me
lights in the rear windows. The rear portion of
the console includes a storage area
for binders and map books, along with a Motorola
portable radio charger and a pair of 12-volt
outlets.
The warning light package includes the
following:
(4) Whelen M4 Series red/clear Super-LED
lights mounted in the grille.
(2) Whelen M4 Series red/clear Super-LED
lights on the front quarter panels.
(3) 36" Sho-Me LED strip lights in the rear
cargo area, one each
side and one in the rear hatch.

Whelen LFL Liberty SX Series LED lightbar which
features an LED Traffic Advisor on the rear.

GTT 795H LED, infrared Opticom emitter integrated
in the lightbar
(6) Whelen OS Series LED lights across the
bottom edge of the rear hatch with two red outer
lights, clear in the middle, and the two
innermost lights are amber.
Whelen Vertex Hideaway LED lights located in the rear
taillight modules (backup, tail, and brake lights
- all clear),
front headlights (clear), and fog lights (red).
In the rear of the vehicle is a slide-out,
aluminum module mounted on Slide Master
500-pound slides. The unit features three different
workstations, one on each side and the rear, all with similar
setups. This includes a slide-out, tilt-up
sketch board along with various storage
compartments to hold items such as EMS
supplies and an extinguisher. The top of
the module contains custom-mounted hand tools, a
two-way radio, and two (2) 12-volt outlets along
with a digital clock. A provision
on the right side allows for a plexiglass board
to be hung that is used to attach accountability
tags. On the left rear corner of the
module is a storage area for one (1) SCBA and
turnout gear. Below that is a slide-out
tray that can be used as a work tray / laptop
stand.
Located on the inside of the rear hatch are two
(2) round LED work lights to illuminate the work
area. The color of these lights are able
to be changed between white and red with the
flick of a switch. Other features
include a Whelen Howler electronic siren and speaker
system, and a
Powercall Adam-6 electronic siren coupled with a
Powercall 200-watt siren speaker.
